About the NHICH
What is the NHICH?
The NH Governor’s Interagency Council on Homelessness (NHICH) is a NH council of the Governor’s that was created pursuant Executive Order 2006-11, as amended by Executive Order 2012-2. The NHICH is charged with ensuring statewide progress towards ending homelessness. The NHICH achieves this through developing, coordinating, and making recommendations for statewide planning, policy and resource allocation to address significant facets of homelessness.
Why is the NHICH important?
Public policies have a profound impact on systems of care, including housing and homeless services. To produce positive outcomes, policymakers need quality information from stakeholders across the homeless and housing spectrum. The collaboration of stakeholders in policymaking is often fragmented, due to resource constraint and ineffective channels for participation. The NHICH bridges the gap between stakeholders and policymakers by coordinating and facilitating solution-focused teams with the goal of creating more positive outcomes through policy improvement and development.
