The New Hampshire Coalition to End Homelessness tracks New Hampshire legislation that could impact our constituents.  There are several House Bills and a Senate Bill currently being considered by the legislature that could impact various aspects of homelessness.

Anyone can search for the status of a bill and find a link to the bill's text by clicking here.

HB2: This is the Trailer Budget bill.  It contains $400,000 for a revolving loan fund to help people afford the initial rent on apartments, and $400,000 for workforce housing as presented by the Governor during his budget ’s address.  The Governor’s office is looking to the Coalition to champion the revolving loan fund.  Working through the NH Interagency Council on Homelessness, a subcommittee of the ICH has been created to develop proposed program design for the revolving loan fund.

SB185: A bill relative to voluntary photo identification for persons being released from correctional facilities and establishing a commission to study the services needed by chronically homeless children.   The NHCEH has frequently heard from homeless shelters and homeless persons about the problems caused by not having a nondriver photo identification.

HB656: (House version of SB185) A bill to establish non-drivers license identification.

HB45
: A bill to establish requirements for vehicle registration by persons without a permanent street address.  Passage of this bill into law will make it possible for persons living at shelters to register their vehicles.

HB537: A bill to establish a teenage task force. If passed the NHCEH will work with others to shed light on the issues specific to teenage homelessness in New Hampshire.

HB408: A bill to establish a Homeless Council.
